Emilia | Wrap Maxi Dress with Abstract Print

A well-made wrap dress is one of the few pieces that suits almost everyone, and Emilia is one: a shirt collar, a V wrap, a gathered waist and an asymmetric ruffled hem that moves as you walk. The print is an abstract watercolour, not another floral.

The wrap. It closes into a V and ties at the side with a sash. Being a wrap, you choose the waist: tighten it as much as you like and it adapts on the days you feel more bloated.

The shirt collar. It is what takes away any hint of a summer dress and lifts the register. Wear it open or closed at the top button.

The gathered waist. Side gathering from the sash. It draws the tummy in without compressing, which is the difference between a comfortable dress and one you last two hours in.

The asymmetric hem. Shorter at the front and longer at the back, finished with a ruffle. It shows the ankle as you walk and trails behind.

The fabric. A matte satin, with drape and a little stretch. It neither shines like a hard satin nor stands stiff: it falls.

What to wear underneath

The wrap drops into a V: if you want more coverage, close it a little further as you tie the sash, which is what a wrap is for. With that neckline a crossover or strapless bra works best.

XS to 2XL. True to size. Being a wrap with a little stretch, it forgives a fair amount: take the one you always wear. If you are between two, stay with the smaller — the sash gives you room to tighten, but not to let out.
